AEVUM Consulting Limited is a civil and structural engineering practice registered in England & Wales, company number 17321525. Our registered office is 38–39 St. John’s Lane, London, EC1M 4BJ. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.
For any questions about this notice or how we handle your personal data, please contact us at design@aevumconsulting.co.uk.
What personal data we collect
We collect personal data that you provide directly to us, including when you:
- Submit an enquiry through our website contact form, including your name, company, email address, telephone number, project location and any details or files you choose to share;
- Correspond with us by email, telephone or in person regarding a project or potential instruction;
- Apply for a role with us, including your CV, covering note and any other information you provide as part of a speculative or formal application;

We may also collect limited technical data automatically when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, through the use of cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for further detail.
How we use your personal data
We use personal data for the following purposes, and on the following lawful bases:
- To respond to enquiries and provide our services (legitimate interests, and performance of a contract where you become a client) — including assessing project enquiries, preparing proposals, and delivering instructed work;
- To manage recruitment (legitimate interests, and steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract) — including reviewing applications and contacting candidates;
- To comply with our legal and professional obligations (legal obligation) — including obligations relating to professional indemnity insurance, anti-money laundering checks where applicable, and accounting records;
- To improve our website and services (legitimate interests) — including understanding how visitors use our website;
- With your consent, where we ask for it specifically — for example, for non-essential cookies or direct marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We may share personal data with:
- Sub-consultants, specialist contractors or other professionals engaged on a project, where necessary to deliver instructed work;
- Our professional advisers, including our insurers, accountants and legal advisers, where necessary;
- IT and hosting service providers who process data on our behalf, under appropriate data processing agreements;
- Regulatory or professional bodies, or law enforcement agencies, where we are required to do so by law.
International transfers
Where any of our service providers are located outside the UK, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision, before any personal data is transferred.
How long we keep your data
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, including to satisfy any legal, accounting or professional indemnity reporting requirements. Enquiry data that does not result in an instruction is typically retained for a limited period to allow for follow-up, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Project-related records are retained in line with our professional indemnity insurance and regulatory obligations, which for construction-related professional services can extend for a number of years after project completion.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Request erasure of your data, where applicable;
- Request restriction of, or object to, our processing of your data in certain circumstances;
- Request that we transfer your data to another organisation, where technically feasible;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at design@aevumconsulting.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
